Adventures in Anterra

New Companions

Pretaan has been having visions of several individuals in his dreams. Pretaan meets Stony Tark on the way from the west to Brogard’s Cove capitol of the Ice Isles. After arriving they are traveling around town looking for a place to stay and meet Alrung the paladin singer of Dwarven opera. that night Pretaan has a vision of a specific gambling hall’s Joung Jin tiles, and believes that is where he must go next to meet more of the ones in his vision. Meanwhile traveling to Brogard’s cove from the south are Maakor (of the raging waters) and Cobalt who have met on their ship. Maakor is traveling to Brogard’s cove to seek out an old teacher. Cobalt sees him on the ship and tries to convince him of the outdated use of swords with his musket. After arriving cobalt fallows Maakor around the city still trying to convince him of this fact when they arrive at one of the gambling halls. Pretaan, Alrung, and Stony are going around the city checking all the Joung Jin parlors where Pretaan is trying to challenge the best player at each place. At the first hall he plays three games with their best beating him the first two times. At the second hall no one accepts his challenge and they leave. At the third the master seems amused by this brash young Elf and agrees to teach him a bit about the game and how he got sucked in by the champion of the first parlor. Cobalt asks Maakor to teach him this game Joung Jin that he has never seen. Maakor reluctantly accepts. while playing their game Maakor notices his teacher in a back corner and goes to join him. Pretaan looks up from his lesson to see these new arrivals to their table and knows they are the last two from his vision and asks them to sit and join them.

Comments

So this is your master what sort of teaching does he do.

New Companions

Just FYI, it’s “Alrung” with a “g”. Thanks!

New Companions

The name is Stony, but its pronounced ThroatWarblerMangrove. Ricki, do you like buttermilk? I’ve been wondering if cats are at all related to ostriches. They both look similar to me if I have my eyes closed. I hope the ship’s captain likes the modifications I made to his astrolabe. It had way too many parts to be efficient. I found this in my backpack. Its a rock that looks like a potato. I think I’ll boil it and see if it tastes like one. Why is the color green green?

New Companions

BTW…the “g” in Stony is silent.

New Companions

We are sages..Maakor says with a grim expression on his face as he looks to his sensi i come looking for more of the arts and knowledge that comes with the path we walk down sensi, might you know anything of the surrounding areas?

New Companions

Oh, I know plenty! ::pulls his Blue Book out and flips it open to the dog-eared “Houses of Ill Repute” section::

I don’t know why they say they have a bad reputation when they’re rated so highly!

New Companions

Maakor just looks in disbelief not saying a word to this unruly child

New Companions

Stony what do you think of Maakor’s scimitars don’t you think they are outdated and need an upgrade.

New Companions

I think that’s a splendid idea! I think they’d work wonderfully on my spittoon chariot, come to think of it! ::pulls out his Obsession Log and leafs through looking for the appropriate pages::

Its like this , only with a spittoon, broom and dustpan underneath:

New Companions

You touch my blades…you wont have hands anymore…

New Companions

Huh. Maybe I could use blades for hands. Or maybe Anytools! ::begins sketching prosthetic prototypes.::

New Companions

::sits quietly waiting for his sensi to speak::

New Companions

::sings to himself as he doodles whilst clunking his high-heeled shoes against the chair legs::

New Companions

since your master seems to be busy with his game. why don’t you continue to show me how this game works. ::gets up and pulls over the closest empty table and resets the board::

New Companions

::sighs:: might as well… ::as I turn my chair and get ready to play the game, trys to signal a maid to get some tea::

New Companions

Kuro Moon smiles at the excited youthfulness and constant wonderment of the young gnome and then looks back at his former student who has become so brash and serious then finally speaks before Ricky and Colby begin to walk away
Kuro: I remember when you were so full of excitement at the world that you would look upon everything you see and question why.. Now you seem to have grown quite cold to the mystery of the world that is what you must rediscover if you are to become a truly remarkable swordsman.
Kuro then turns to Div and looks him in the eye
Kuro: I feel you have found something that you were searching for..
Kuro then takes a few Jong Jin tiles and slides one to each of the PCs. A tile symbolizing the water to Maakor, one symbolizing fire to Stony, one bearing the symbol of the earth to Alrung and one bearing the mark of air to Colby. Then he slowly slides a tile over to Div, face down

New Companions

“Tea? Do they do the full tea ceremony here?” asked Stony hopefully.

New Companions

Maakor: I must watch myself, the beast within must not get out. You have taught me to tame the beast, yet it is always trying to get free..

New Companions

Kuro nods to Stony and gestures to the waitress resulting in clamor of activity coming from the kitchen as they start preparing tea then focuses his gaze onto Maako

Kuro: Maakor.. laughter and joy are the keys to learning how to open the cage safely..

New Companions

Maakor: those are not the chains that hold the beast. I work best alone..now back to the point sensi, i am looking for new sword arts of days gone past and perhaps lost arts of my people might you have any knowledge of where such things are? :: I say as i pickup a tea cup and drink from it::

New Companions

Excuse me for interrupting. Why would you look to the past to learn old sword arts? Why don’t you look for new sources of knowledge? If you have something not a lot of people have seen they wont know what to expect. You would have an advantage over them. Kind of like the little guy there and his crazy contraption.

New Companions

We learn from the past…as not knowing the past we are doomed to repeat it..not LEARNING from the past we are doomed to repeat the same mistakes that our ancestors did… ::sips tea::

New Companions

div now has a name. pretaan. (remind me to tell zen about the true meaning of his name, has a lot of RP and storyline potential).
pretan will simply nod to kuro and slide the tile into his pocket without looking at it. then enjoy some tea.

New Companions

Kuro: sometimes if you look far enough into the past you will indeed find something new.. for example i doubt any of you knew that these isles were once great mountains and home to one of the first dwarven empires.

New Companions

::bites the tile experimentally::

New Companions

So Mr Moon do we keep these tiles, or do we give them back to you?

New Companions

::Places his Presley doll (with Gyrating Hip Action) on the table and starts it up:: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12VUjgYMm1U

New Companions

::sings along to the version from “Live at Igoris” to his Goddess, the lovely Potter Peps::

" "All of my loooooove! " ":http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZUtYiph7JU&feature=share&list=PL4315C77BFA2D20EE

“Did you know the backup singers were all goblins? A talented people, goblins!”

New Companions

::casts detect magic and examines this moving figure::

New Companions

Kuro : keep the tiles.. but do not eat them.

Kuro takes an ancient scroll out of his bag and hands it to Maakor who slowly unravels it revealing in illustration of a martial maneuver. An unfamiliar but complicated looking maneuver with notes and instructions written in a language he cannot understand. before Maakor can speak Kuro holds up a hand to silence him and gestures to the half-orc

Kuro : he can read it to you.

Maakor allows Alrung to come over and stand with him looking at it as Stony keeps hopping up trying to get a look at it as well. The manual is written in dwarven which Alrung comments is the language of his people. While Maakor and Alrung discuss the scroll Cobalt shrugs disinterestedly and Pretaan is about to do the same when he notices the emblem emblazoned on the scroll handles an emerald gauntlet clutching an ivory lily
